Experienced teachers and graduate students in education, they are trained in the Reading Team’s program and work with students in small groups, teaching the building blocks of early literacy to our youngest students and helping older students master the finer points of reading, writing, listening, and speaking. As role models of commitment and achievement, Literacy Coaches inspire students to go beyond their perceived limits and to internalize the connection between good work habits and success. They exude calmness and patience, model perseverance and self-discipline, and ensure the Reading Team classroom is a compassionate, welcoming environment.
