At-Home Reading Resources

The Reading Team has curated a list of free, online materials that parents and students in Grades K-5 can use at home.

Access free books through the New York Public Library

  • STEP 1

Apply for a library card through the free SimplyE app for iOS and Android. Use the card to check out books at your local public library, or read on a phone or tablet by using the app.

  • STEP 2

Use the SimplyE app to borrow free ebooks and audiobooks, and to access databases for both middle and elementary school students such as the African American Experience, Explora Elementary and New Book of Popular Science.

  • STEP 3

Once you have a library account you can also download the free Libby app and check out library books and materials that way as well.
